probably a perfectly nice bloke, pleasant company for a pint, a good hand at pub quizzes. He’s probably the life of the party, the light in the room - but bloody hell he casts himself as a sombre soul when he writes songs.
The new EP ‘And Still’ is a darker, damper showcase of the Cambridge musician’s lulling qualities. Barely-there string notes collapse in a foggy atmosphere, with almost alien-sounding falsetto careering into an open space. This is the latest cut - ‘Held By A Shiver’, which pits moody songwriting in a dramatic, dark setting.
