Listen: Luke Abbott Announces New Album ‘Wysing Forest’, Streams ‘Amphis’
Border Community-producer releases his new album - the follow-up to ‘Holkham Drones’ - this June.
If there’s anyone capable of having some kind of Jon Hopkins-level of breakthrough in 2014, it’s probably Luke Abbott. 2010 debut ‘Holkham Drones’ is still a record doing the rounds, gradually spreading bit-by-bit and leaving a huge impression. Follow-up ‘Wysing Forest’ arrives this June, following on from two EPs on Gold Panda’s NOTOWN label, ‘Object is Navigator’ and ‘Modern Driveway’.
The new record’s mostly made up of live recordings, put together during a residency at the Wysing Arts Centre in Cambridgeshire (hence the album title).
Lead track ‘Amphis’ is an eerie, stirring number that fidgets constantly, emphasising the live quality to the recording. In total, it spans just under 12 and a half minutes.
‘Wysing Forest’ comes out 23rd June via Border Community.
