Listen: Tobacco Streams ‘Eruption (Gonna Get My Hair Cut At The End Of The Summer)’

It’s been a while since we last heard from Pennsylvanian synth abuser TOBACCO, but his third album and Ghostly International debut will be rearing its distorted head on 13th May.

‘Ultima II Massage’ finds TOBACCO contorting his sound into further cacophony. However, lead single ‘Eruption (Gonna Get My Hair Cut At The End Of The Summer)’ shows a keener enthusiasm for his deprived pop side. Featuring his menacing vocoder mumblings, ‘Eruption’ sounds exactly like the discarded remnants of El-P’s frightening dystopias and Black Moth Super Rainbow’s psychedelic beauty. TOBACCO’s warped funk feels like it’s finally reached its desired destination, however frightening it may be.
