The Last Dinner Party’s Lizzie Mayland announces solo EP ‘The Slow Fire Of Sleep’

L Mayland - aka Lizzie Mayland of The Last Dinner Party - has announced that they will be releasing a solo EP entitled ‘The Slow Fire Of Sleep’ on 9th May. The news arrives alongside the release of brand new single, ‘Lighthouse’, which focuses on the bittersweet anxiety that often arises when things in life are going well. “’Lighthouse’ is about being in a healthy romantic relationship for the first time in my life and the fear of losing that,” Mayland says on the new single.

Mayland is also the guitarist in double BRIT award winning five-piece, The Last Dinner Party, who are known for their audacious hits such as ‘Nothing Matters’, ‘Sinner’ and ‘The Feminine Urge’. The forthcoming EP was written between tours with the band while they were adjusting to normal life again. “These tracks definitely grew from those periods,” they say. “Suddenly finding myself in my quiet flat and filling that silence with my guitar and these sad songs. It was a way to process what was happening in my life, to come back to myself.”

The new track is accompanied by a red-wash visualiser directed by Cal McIntyre. “I storyboarded an idea for the video, then I heard Cal wanted to direct it and I was so pleased,” they said on creating the video for the track. “He captured the elements which were the most important to me before lending his own aesthetic talents.”

Mayland will be playing two intimate shows in London and Manchester to celebrate the release of their new music. Find more details on the shows below.
