Lollapalooza organisers react to Dev Hynes assault claims

Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival has issued a statement following claims on Friday 1st August from Dev Hynes that he’d been assaulted by security on site.

Following a performance under his Blood Orange guise, he was allegedly attacked by three guards. His girlfriend and bandmate, Samantha Urbani from Friends, is also said to have been touched by security.

“Everyone saw it. We are pressing charges,” said Hynes in a series of tweets (some of which have since been deleted). “One of the security guards is claiming that I assaulted him which is insanity. If you saw the incident please get in touch. Thanks.”

In response to the alleged incident, Lollapalooza has issued the following statement: “Late Friday night, we learned of an incident involving an artist and a security guard on site. Since then, we have been in contact with those involved and the authorities, as we work together to resolve the situation. As always, our top priority is to ensure the safety of everyone at the festival.”

The festival concluded yesterday with a performance from Chance the Rapper, which included special guest spots from R. Kelly and Vic Mensa.
