Cover lovers Mac DeMarco and The Flaming Lips are working on a split EP
According to Wayne Coyne, it’ll contain six covers of each other’s work.
Back in April, Mac DeMarco and The Flaming Lips announced that they’d be going on a joint tour of the USA.
That’s about to kick off next month in St. Paul, Minnesota, but Wayne Coyne’s been busy in the meantime – and no, that doesn’t just mean wearing eyepatches and visiting jellyfish-infested realms in his videos. Nope, he’s revealed that The Flaming Lips and Mac are working on a split EP!
In a post on his Instagram page, he said: “workin on Chamber of Reflections for Mac DeMarco/ Flaming Lips split EP… we (the Flaming Lips) doing 3 Mac songs and he (they… the Mac DeMarco afternoon delight ensemble) doing 3 Flaming Lips songs.. hopefully on vinyl AND cassette..”
Not only that, but the post is accompanied by a little clip shedding some light on that version of ‘Chamber of Reflections’. So then, it just makes the prospect of Mac joining Wayne in the hamster ball on the tour all the more likely…
Have a look at Wayne’s Instagram post and see all of Mac and The Flaming Lips’ upcoming joint tour dates below.
