New issue of DIY out now, feat. Circa Waves, Laura Marling, Creeper & more
DIY is free - pick up a copy in our usual, beloved UK stockists or read for free online.
The new, March 2017 issue of DIY - fronted by Circa Waves - is out right now, available to read online, or physically via our stockists (for free!)
This month, we’re welcoming Circa Waves to the cover of DIY, as they get fuzzed up and charge head-first towards the release of second album ‘Different Creatures’. Talking everything from working with Alan Moulder, one of the rock scene’s most formidable desk wizards, to potentially penning songs for others in the future - “If Justin Bieber wanted to write a song maybe I’d give it a go, just so I could buy a speedboat!” - Shudall cuts a fearless figure leading up to ‘Different Creatures’, and one that could lead his band to the really, really big leagues.

Elsewhere in the mag, we chat to Creeper, now they’re safe and sound after disappearing last summer, and gearing up to release their debut album, and ask Dave Longstreth of Dirty Projectors whether he’s mad that Bon Iver also sings about staying at the Ace Hotel. Los Campesinos! talk us through ten years of the band as they release their sixth album ‘Sick Scenes’, with frontman Gareth dissecting some of their most infamous and fascinating lyrics.
Formation’s thunder has, if we’re honest, been stolen by Beyoncé’s track of the same name. Then she only went and announced she’s expecting twins. Will and Matt Ritson aren’t bothered though, and we catch up with them in the run-up to the release of their pretty-bloody-good debut album ’Look At The Powerful People’. We also bring The Magic Gang and their new label boss Felix ‘Maccabee’ White together to talk Yala! and the band’s new EP, while talking to Tall Ships about their upcoming second album, and giving Paramore’s breakthrough LP ‘Riot!’ our Hall of Fame treatment.
In this month’s Neu, we get gritty with Goat Girl, sombre and smoky with Yellow Days and glacial with popstar-in-waiting Skott.
That’s just the beginning, too. Basically, it’s absolutely jam-packed. It’s a wonder the thing’s not falling apart at the spine, really.
DIY’s fit-to-burst March 2017 issue is out now. It’s free(!), available from record shops, venues and Dr. Martens stores stocking DIY. Read online for free here. Not in the UK or near a stockist? Subscribe below.
