Matilda Mann shares lush new ‘Roxwell’ preview ‘Just Because’

Matilda Mann has offered up another taste of her forthcoming debut album ‘Roxwell’ (due to arrive on 28th February via 7476), this time in the form of the opulent, orchestral-flecked new track ‘Just Because’. 

Following on from recent cuts like ‘Say It Back’, ‘Dazed & Confused’, and ‘Meet Cute’, this latest single sees her marry jazz influences with pop nous for a number that’s cinematic and sweeping, but also foot-tappingly catchy.

“Just Because’ was the song that felt like it took forever to write,” Matilda has shared. “Jonah [Summerfiled, producer] and I had written a verse and chorus that felt new and fresh for us - kinda fun and sassy, haha - but something about it didn’t feel complete. We left it alone for about a year, and then one day, we decided to dedicate just 10 minutes to see if we could naturally find something. Almost immediately, we wrote the pre-chorus, which felt like the perfect missing piece. Just because someone thinks it’s love doesn’t mean it was.”
