Meet Me @ The Altar release cover of ‘Take Me Away’
It’s their version of the song from the iconic 2000s film Freaky Friday.
Much-hyped rock trio Meet Me @ The Altar have today shared their version of ‘Take Me Away’, better known as the track performed by fictional band Pink Slip in the iconic noughties film Freaky Friday.
Speaking about their decision to cover the song, Meet Me @ The Altar say: “Aside from it just being an absolutely iconic moment in pop culture, ‘Take Me Away’, Pink Slip, and Freaky Friday as a whole had a lot of influence over us growing up. It’s everything we love all meshed into one - female representation in punk music, and on screen! Being able to pay homage to such an endless well of inspiration to us was really gratifying. It really takes you back to an era that I think we all miss.”
‘Take Me Away’ will feature on the deluxe version of the band’s debut album, ‘Past // Present // Future’, due to arrive on 29th September via Fueled By Ramen. They’ll also be heading out on a headline European tour this autumn - check out their UK shows below.
