Metronomy, Drenge and The Horrors to support Blur at Hyde Park

Blur are also readying their new album, ‘The Magic Whip’.

With the shock news last week that Blur are releasing a new album, their first in twelve years, it’s easy to forget the four-piece also announced a huge show at London’s Hyde Park.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, Blur have also unveiled a stacked supporting line up including Metronomy, Drenge and The Horrors for the gig on 20th June.

Drenge are gearing up to release their second album ‘Undertow’ on 6th April while Faris Badwan of The Horrors has recently set up his own label, Raft Records with his brother.

Blur’s appearance at Hyde Park is part of the British Summer Time Festival which also includes headline gigs from Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue and The Who. Blur went on hiatus after the release of Think Tank in 2003 but reunited in 2008 for a series of live shows, including three at Hyde Park and a slot headlining Glastonbury Festival in 2009.

Blur’s eighth studio album ‘The Magic Whip’ was recorded in Hong Kong during a gap in their reunion tour and is released on 27th April. You can hear ‘Go Out’, the first cut from it below.
