Mogwai announce eleventh studio album ‘The Bad Fire’
It takes its title from a Scottish colloquialism for Hell.

Glasgow icons Mogwai have confirmed that their next album will be entitled ‘The Bad Fire’ - a Scottish colloquial term for Hell - and will hit shelves on 24th January 2025 via Rock Action Records.
Their 11th full-length record, ‘The Bad Fire’ will act as a follow up to 2021’s chart-topping ‘As The Love Continues’, and will see the band process a number of personal challenges they’ve faced since their last LP’s release.
Explaining further, the band have shared: “After the high of putting out ‘As The Love Continues’, the following years were hard for us. We’ve dealt with a lot of loss and in Barry’s case a serious family illness with one his daughters. Getting back together to write and record this record felt like a refuge and with John Congleton we feel that we’ve made something special. We often hear from people that our music has helped them get through hard times in their lives and for once I think it applies to us as well.”
As well as announcing the album, Mogwai have also offered up a new single, ‘Lion Rumpus’. Purposeful and arresting from the outset, the track follows recent cut ‘God Gets You Back’ and has landed alongside a new video directed by long-time collaborator Antony Crook, in which Glaswegian local Lawrence (Larry) Wilson takes us dog walking on the streets of Manhattan.
