Morrissey reveals that he “officially died for nine minutes” in 2013
Moz confesses to another recent health scare during a new interview.

Morrissey has revealed that during a 2013 South American tour, he “officially died for nine minutes” when hospitalised for food poisoning. His latest confession follows the disclosure of his cancer-related treatments in the same year, which he stated during another interview in October 2014.
The former Smiths frontman was speaking to Alternative Nation, who asked Morrissey if there is “a new city on this lonely planet that you might just fall in love with?” Morrissey replied:
“I’m pulled towards Poland, but I don’t know enough to sing about it as yet. I’m also always excited to be in South America, even though the last visit to Peru gave me food poisoning and I officially died for nine minutes. That was fun.”
In the same interview, Morrissey also criticised Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton. With the latter, he once criticised her policies, but he’d previously backed Obama. On this occasion, he came out against the President’s actions post-Ferguson.
“Obama has mystified me because he doesn’t appear to support black people when they need it most… Ferguson being an obvious example. If Michael Brown had instead been one of Obama’s daughters, I don’t think Obama would be insisting that the nation support the so-called security forces,” he said.
