Mumford & Sons named as Rock Werchter 2023 headliners

They replace Stromae on the bill, who has cancelled all tour dates on health grounds.

Rock Werchter have announced a huge new addition to their 2023 lineup: Mumford & Sons are now to close the Belgian festival’s opening night on Thursday 29th June.

The slot had originally been due to be filled by Stromae, but following the news in May that the Belgian has cancelled all of his remaining tour dates to “rest and heal” after he felt his health “took a bad turn” a few months earlier, a headline slot had opened up.

It will be Mumford & Sons’ first mainland European show in over three years. They were scheduled to tour Europe anyway later in the summer, but have accepted the invitation from the festival to make an earlier than expected trip.

Rock Werchter 2023 takes place in the Festivalpark in Werchter, Belgium from 29th June to 2nd July. It is Belgium’s biggest music festival.

Other main acts on this year’s bill include Arctic Monkeys, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stormzy, Lil Nas X, Sam Fender and Rosalia.

A limited number of one-day tickets for Thursday and Friday are still available here.
