N.E.R.D. share first track in four years, ‘Squeeze Me’
Pharrell-fronted group are soundtracking the new Spongebob film.
It’s four years since shapeshifting group N.E.R.D released their last LP, 2010’s ‘Nothing’. After rumours of a return, they’re back in the shape of a kids movie-soundtracking newbie, ‘Squeeze Me’.
Topping off a ridiculously successful year, Pharrell Williams leads the first thing he, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley have put their names to for some time - earlier this year, the band played Odd Future’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival fest, but this is the first thing they’ve issued in recorded form.
‘Squeeze Me’ soundtracks ‘The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water’, following in the footsteps of Pharrell’s ‘Happy’, which appeared on ‘Despicable Me 2’ before becoming one of the most-played songs of 2014.
