Nell Mescal teases new music with the release of live demo ‘Thin’

Nell Mescal has released an intimate live demo of her new track ‘Thin’, recorded live in Dublin. The singer had been teasing clips of the song live at her shows and on social media before releasing the somber demo, much to the delight of her expectant fans.

‘Thin’, released via her new label Atlantic Records, is Mescal’s first new music since the release of her debut EP ‘Can I Miss It For A Minute?’. The singer says that the track is a melancholic deep dive into her self-esteem: “Thin is about body image and equating what you look like to what your worth is when it comes to love,” she explained. “ It was a really difficult song to write and to confront, and comes from all my darkest and most untrue thoughts about myself.”

“The ultimate message of the song and what I hope people get from listening to it is that these thoughts aren’t true, but that doesn’t make the emotions any less real and that you are enough as you are,” she added.

Mescal, who is also the sister of acclaimed actor Paul Mescal, has a busy summer ahead of her; she’ll be playing multiple festival slots including Reading and Leeds and a support slot for Robbie Williams at Newcastle’s Come Together Festival on 4th June.
