New Lana Del Rey songs to feature in Tim Burton flick

Capping off a busy year, Lana Del Rey has penned a pair of songs for forthcoming Tim Burton film, Big Eyes.

The film centres around the story of Margaret Keane, whose distinctive ‘big-eyed’ paintings were, for many years, falsely believed to be the work of her husband. Starring Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz, Del Rey’s contributions to the flick come in the form of its title track (co-written with Dan Heath) and an additional number entitled ‘I Can Fly’, penned alongside Rick Nowels.

Due for a Christmas release, the film’s producers are hopeful that the two songs will be strong enough to put the singer, passed over for her work on the Great Gatsby soundtrack, in contention for an Oscar nomination.

Earlier this year, Del Rey lent her vocal talents to ‘Once Upon A Dream’, the theme song to the Angelina Jolie-starring Maleficent and released her third studio album, ‘Ultraviolence’.

Big Eyes is set to released in US cinemas on Christmas Day, 25th December.
