Nick J.D. Hodgson shares debut single ‘Suitable’

He’s delving into his post-Kaiser Chiefs life on the track.

Back in 2012, Nick Hodgson announced that he was leaving Kaiser Chiefs, saying “I’m moving on. I wish the rest of the band the very best!”

For the last couple of years he’s been writing and producing for others (having hits with Mark Ronson, Hurts, John Newman and Shirley Bassey). In Spring of this year though, he was suddenly hit with the inspiration to write a song for himself. “Suddenly felt like I was writing for myself. I’d spent years writing music for other people to sing and collaborate on, but this was a strange feeling: I was gonna write this for me”.

So he’s now back with his first solo single, ‘Suitable’, the first track from his upcoming first solo album! Speaking of the track, Nick said: “It’s basically about my wife and also my post-Kaiser life, which is much calmer and more serene than it was… I love lush production and dreamy imagery”.

Yesterday, Nick was announced as one of The Cribs’ rotating cast of support acts for their run of Cribsmas shows, playing at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club on 18th December. Other acts supporting them on tour are Dream Wife, Demob Happy, PINS, and Paws. Tickets for the residencies are on sale now.
