Our Girl hit the pool for their ‘No Big Deal’ video
There’s a lot of underwater thrashing about involved.
Not content with filming their music video in somewhere super predictable like… y’know, the desert (every person and their dog is doing that at the moment) Our Girl have done the opposite for their ‘No Big Deal’ video, plunging fully-clothed into a swimming pool.
Thrashing around a fair bit, mouthing the lyrics underwater (impressive) and blowing all manner of fancy air bubbles, it’s a video intended to “reflect the erratic nature of the song,” says the band’s Soph Nathan. “The sense of not being able to breathe or move as quickly as you need to, like in a bad dream where you can’t get away from something that’s chasing you. We liked the idea that under water there’s a fine line between that kind of claustrophobia and complete tranquillity. You can also create an immense sense of calm under water - the sound of silence when you’re floating, weightless. It’s this sense of volatility that we thought would suit the feeling of the song so well.”
Our Girl are fronted by Soph, who also shreds guitats for The Big Moon. They release their debut EP ‘Normally’ on November 18th via Cannibal Hymns. They also play a few shows supporting Twin Peaks and The Japanese House.
