Peace, Swim Deep and Circa Waves to support The Libertines at Alexandra Palace, London
The Libertines will play three nights at the venue this September.
Peace have announced they are set to support The Libertines at the band’s recently announced third gig at Alexandra Palace, London later this year. Initially a two-date run (27th and 28th September), an extra night was added (26th September) when tickets sold out within minutes.
Both bands have new albums in the works, with Peace gearing up to release their second full-length - following their 2013 debut ‘In Love’ - this autumn, and The Libertines claiming they’ll have a record ready for release in 2015; their first since 2004’s ‘The Libertines’.
In an interview with NME, Carl Barat admitted that a new record had “always” been the intention alongside their live return. “I want to keep something fresh coming in. We just need to find time.” Co-frontman Pete Doherty backed him up by setting a recording target of “October, November time. That’s what will have to happen.”
The Libertines - who performed their ‘final’ show in 2004, before briefly returning in 2010 to play Reading & Leeds Festival - also recently announced an autumn European tour, which will see them visit France, Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, and festival appearances at Optimus Alive, Portugal (12th July) and Benicassim Festival, Spain (19th July).
Support at the other two dates will come from Swim Deep (27th September) and Circa Waves (28th September). The former also played with the band at the recent Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.
