Happy?
Pharrell Williams announces series of ‘Happy’-inspired children’s books
Watch your back, JK. Rowling, the happy man with the silly hat is having a go at the whole book thing.
Watch out JK. Rowling, there’s a new kid on the block. Penguin publishing off-shoot Putnam Books for Young Readers has announced that it’ll be publishing four picture books by none other than big hat man Pharrell Williams. The series will kick off with a fictional take on Pharrell’s ‘Happy’.
Putnam are planning to print around 250,000 copies of ‘Happy’, which will be published on 22 September. Thinking about it, JK can relax easy, because there won’t - as far as we know - be any child wizards in Pharrell’s books. There will, however, be lots of pictures of beaming children from around the world “celebrating what it means to be happy”.
This isn’t the first time that Putnam has dabbled in the world of music. They previously published Dolly Parton’s children’s book ‘I Am a Rainbow’, along with her motivational philosophy guidebook ‘Dream More: Celebrate the Dreamer in You’. Whatever next, a guide to plant-care by George Ezra? A Where’s Wally spin-off featuring hidden members of Royal Blood? Who knows, eh?
Festival special! Featuring Wolf Alice, Kasabian, Lykke Li, Marmozets, Genesis Owusu and more.
