PJ Harvey’s notebooks have inspired a new BBC Radio 4 play
‘On Kosovo Field’ has been written by Fin Kennedy.
Notebooks written by PJ Harvey have been transformed into a new drama for BBC Radio 4.
The drama, ‘On Kosovo Field’, will be broadcast in the new year and is inspired by notes written by Harvey as she travelled through the area, which also formed the basis of some of the tracks on her latest album ‘The Hope Six Demolition Project’.
It’s been written by Fin Kennedy, who accompanied Harvey on the journey, and stars Mico Mirallegro of ‘My Mad Fat Diary’ and Michelle Keegan from ‘Coronation Street’. But this ain’t no soap opera. The five-part drama will follow two Kosovan-born siblings raised in Manchester as they return to their homeland after learning about a mass grave found near their native home.
Earlier in the year, Harvey took another step into the world of drama as she revealed she was writing the score for a new adaptation of Franz Xaver Kroetz’s ‘The Nest’.
‘On Kosovo Field’ will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 at 10.45am every weekday from the 9th to 13th January, with repeats every night at 7.45pm.
