Polyvinyl’s ‘Single Series Vol.3’ will feature Beach Slang, Joyce Manor and more
Japanese Breakfast and Modern Baseball will also feature on the series’ third instalment.
Polyvinyl have revealed details of the latest instalment of their ‘Single Series,’ the first since 2014.
The premise behind the series is simple: the label sends a cassette recorder to the artists involved in each series (some of them signed to Polyvinyl, some they’ve simply “crossed paths with”), and they record two songs each. Subscribers to the series then receive a coloured 7” vinyl in the post with the results, complete with sleeve artwork designed by Midwestern artist Jay Ryan. Neat!
For ‘Single Series Vol.3’, Polyvinyl have recruited 12 artists, including Beach Slang, Modern Baseball, Joyce Manor, Japanese Breakfast and Diet Cig. Twin Peaks, Owen, Ra Ra Riot, Mothers, Sonny & The Sunsets and Tim Kasher (of Cursive and The Good Life) will also be contributing.
While 1000 people were given the opportunity to sign up to the scheme, this time round subscriptions are limited to 750, so it’s probably a good idea to get in there quick if you’re interested…
