Portland’s bed. unveil new ‘Wayward’ single and video

Nestle into bed., a newly-fledged project belonging to Alex Haager and Sierra Frost, two individuals who together started this band, plus Breakup Records. Self-professed “slow-fi” is their game, although in new single ‘Wayward’ they share more in common with immediate, punchy alternative rock heavyweights Best Coast and Alvvays. There’s a woozy, swaying quality to the piece, which - appropriately - was recorded in California.

The studio itself is based in a “redwood enclave,” according to bed., but this single’s got its head in the sand rather than up in the trees. A gleeful, giddy number, it’s premiering on DIY below.

‘Wayward’ also comes backed with a sweet puzzle of a new video, directed by Lisa Donato and Jeffrey Schwinghammer. It was originally commissioned for the ‘2014 Music Video Race’ in San Francisco, and it’s bubbling up with bright ideas and random objects that fill a bathtub. Spare a thought for Haager, who spends most of his time covered in lego.
