Premiere: Listen: Patterns Stream New ‘Our Ego’ Track

Bit-by-bit, Patterns have timed the arrival of their debut album with the very moment their sound fully blossoms into something clear-eyed, all-encompassing and enlivening.

They’ve given hints of it previously. Back in 2011 they told DIY they wanted ‘to write a serious album’, which at the time sounded awfully ominous. Thankfully debut ‘Waking Lines’ is only serious in its attempts to make something vitally wide-eyed, bursting with ideas.

If a song like ‘Our Ego’ was achieved with furrowed brows and strict studio routine, then maybe ‘serious’ is the right way to go.

‘Waking Lines’ is released on 6th January via Melodic. It’ll shake off any New Year hangovers, replacing vague resolutions with something more tangible. Pre-order here.
