Public Service Broadcasting plan Latitude trip: “I’d love to see Caribou”
“We know what our job is at a festival,” J. Willgoose, Esq. says of their forthcoming set.
Public Service Broadcasting are yet to play Latitude, but they’re paying the Henham Park site a visit this weekend following the recent release of their new album, ‘The Race for Space’. “I went for the day as a punter in about 2008 I think,” the band’s J. Willgoose, Esq. says. “I saw Elbow and Sigur Ros - it was great.”
They’re unlikely to see as much this year unfortunately. “We won’t be staying for the whole weekend so we’re limited to who’s playing on the Friday - I’d love to see Caribou but I don’t know if we’ll clash with him. I hope not, for our sake!”
“We know what our job is at a festival - play stuff that’s going to get people in a good mood and hopefully moving around,” Willgoose continues. “I don’t think it’s really the time or the place to be trying out new material. People want to have a good time above everything else.”
“The crowds” are his favourite part of playing a festival, he says. “They just want to have a good time. They’re not a captive audience so they won’t be there if they’re not interested - but if they are there, they want to have a really good time. It’s the best atmosphere for playing upbeat music in. There isn’t a better thing to do in music, I don’t think.”
Public Service Broadcasting will play Latitude (16th - 19th July), where DIY is an official media partner. Tickets are on sale now. Visit diymag.com/presents for more information.
