Real Friends take us behind the scene of their spooky new ‘Mess’ video

The Illinois punks’ latest arrives just in time for Halloween.

Channeling an energetic angst, Real Friends relish the catharsis of their fist-first pop-punk. In their new ‘Mess’ video, they’re handing the keys to such self-actualisation over to a younger generation.

Based around a Halloween block party, it’s every bit as goofy as it is heartfelt, the band themselves joining in the October’s end fun. “We are stoked to show everyone our music video for ‘Mess’,” says the band’s bassist and primary lyricist Kyle Fasel. “The coolest part was having our fans involved in the filming of the video. We had about one hundred extras in the video over the course of two days. All of those extras were our fans. If I was in one of my favourite bands’ music videos I would be super stoked. So it’s awesome to make our fans feel that.”

That’s not all, mind - we’ve got an exclusive behind the scenes guide to the video from Kyle, to boot. Tuck into that below the player. Real Friends play the following UK dates later this year:

DECEMBER
09 London, Electric Ballroom
10 Birmingham, Asylum
11 Newcastle, Riverside
13 Glasgow, St Lukes
14 Manchester, Club Academy
15 Leeds, Stylus
16 Bristol, Thekla
17 Southampton, Engine Rooms
