Royce Wood Junior streams new track, ‘The Basin’

London producer shares another track, ahead of a debut album next year.

Another track from Royce Wood Junior’s debut EP has been shared, following the previous singles ‘January Time’ and the title track ‘Rover’. All three of the tracks are featured on the record which was released yesterday on London label 37 Adventures, which has previously homed Wood’s collaborator Rosie Lowe.

With ‘Basin’ he creates a genre-shifting ear worm, rooted in woozy rhythms and a funk influenced baseline. Gone are the distant and falsetto vocals of ‘Rover’ and ‘January Time’, and in place are Wood Junior’s unrestrained vocals which carry a rousing tone weaved in the skittering beats. The heady mixture draws to a fizzing ending, with backing vocals repeating the instruction to get up, before closing with a muted revisit from the opening baseline.
