Run the Jewels announce ‘RTJ3’

The duo’s third album features Danny Brown, Kamasi Washington, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and more.

Finally! After teasing us with various snippets of info throughout the year, Run the Jewels have finally announced their third album ‘RTJ3’.

The record is out on 13th January, and features a whole host of collaborators including Danny Brown, Kamasi Washington, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Trina, and Boots. As with all of Run the Jewels’ albums, this will be free in digital form.

‘RTJ3’ features previously shared singles ‘2100’ (featuring Boots),‘Talk To Me’, and the Danny Brown-featuring ‘Panther Like a Panther (I’m the Shit)’.

Speaking about the new record’s cover, Run the Jewels’ artistic collaborator Timothy Saccenti said: “For us, the RTJ1 hands were about “taking what’s yours”—your world, your life, your attitude. The RTJ2 hands were wrapped in bandages, signifying injury and healing, which for us represented the growth in ideas and tone of that album. For RTJ3 the bandages are off, the chain is gone and the hands have been transformed into gold. For us this represents the idea that there is nothing to take that exists outside of yourself. You are the jewel.”

Here’s why more than ever, the world needs a Run the Jewels album after the shitshow of 2016.

The tracklist for ‘RTJ3’ is as follows:

01 Down [ft. Joi Gilliam]
02 Talk to Me
03 Legend Has It
04 Call Ticketron
05 Hey Kids (Bumaye) [ft. Danny Brown]
