Sam Smith tops Official Album Chart in first week to include streams
Ellie Goulding remains at #1 in the Official Singles Chart.
Sam Smith has topped the UK’s Official Album Chart in the first week to include streaming data.
Smith’s ‘In the Lonely Hour’ took the top spot with The Official Charts Company adding up data from Spotify, Deezer, Google Play, Napster, O2 Tracks, Xbox Music, Rdio and Rara. 2,900 album streams contributed to his chart-topping position.
Receiving a post-BRITs boost, Smith, Royal Blood and Ed Sheeran also climbed the charts.
New entries this week came from Chris Brown & Tyga (#7), Public Service Broadcasting (#11), Black Star Riders (#13), Big Sean (#23) and Scorpions (#31).
In the Official Singles Chart, Ellie Goulding held onto the top spot for a fourth week with ‘Love Me Like You Do’.
