Sam Smith Tops UK Singles Chart With ‘Money On My Mind’

BBC Sound Of… topper lives up to his big billing, with Bastille topping the album chart.

This week’s UK singles and album charts rewarded two BRIT Awards winners. Bastille went back to the top of the UK album chart with ‘Bad Blood’, while Sam Smith went straight in at number 1 in the singles.

Bastille picked up the Best Breakthrough Act at this year’s BRITs, and subsequently saw his debut album climb 9 places to the top of the chart.

Sam Smith’s ‘Money On My Mind’ previews a debut album out in May. It replaced Clean Bandit’s ‘Rather Be’ at the top spot, after the previous chart-topper enjoyed a four week spell.

Bastille also saw success in the singles. His ‘Pompeii/ Waiting All Night’ collaboration with Rudiemental - performed at the BRITs - went in at #22.

In albums, the highest new entry arrived with Nina Nesbitt’s ‘Peroxide’ debut. Last week’s number 1 - Katy B’s ‘Little Red’ - fell 7 places to #8.
