Sampha shares awaited new music with ‘Spirit 2.0’.

The track is the artist’s first solo material in six years.

Yesterday (28th June), Sampha returned with ‘Spirit 2.0’ - the first solo music we’ve heard from him since his 2017 debut album, ‘Process’. That’s not to say the singer, songwriter and producer hasn’t been busy though; he’s had features on Kendrick Lamar’s album track ‘Father Time’, as well as Stormzy’s ‘Sampha’s Plea’.

He’s also spent the time away working on an anticipated second album, of which ‘Spirit 2.0’ is our first taster. Ambitious and inmersive, the single spotlights instrumental contributions from a range of musicians and features guest vocals from Yaeji and Lisa-Kaindé Diaz of Ibeyi. Commenting on ‘Spirit 2.0’, Sampha says: “It’s about the importance of connection to both myself and others, and the beauty and harsh realities of just existing. It’s about acknowledging those moments when you need help - that requires real strength. I hope people can enjoy that feeling of someone being there for you, even if that person doesn’t have the answers”.
