See David Lynch and Patti Smith in conversation for the BBC

BBC have shared a conversation between David Lynch and Patti Smith, recently filmed in Paris. The pair’s chat has been documented as part of the Newsnight Encounters series, following the two artists revisiting Foundation Cartier, where both artists have performed or exhibited at in the past.

The clip features Patti Smith discovering the roots of Lynch’s ‘Twin Peaks’ and ‘Blue Velvet’, with Smith especially singling out the former as a “gift to everyone”.

In turn, Smith sheds some light on her work with Pussy Riot praising the group for being able to “Speak to a younger generation and tell them to do something for themselves”.

Patti Smith is rumoured to be playing Field Day 2015, after DIY de-coded a series of tweets posted on the organisers’ Twitter page. She’s believed to be playing her debut album ‘Horses’ in its entirety.
