Set Your Goals clarify their current status
They’re not broken up, just “laying low for a while and busy individually with our adult lives.“
Bay Area pop-punks Set Your Goals have been eerily quiet for the last couple of years, leading many to sound the death knoll on their behalf. However, on a Facebook post made on Christmas Day, vocalist Matt Wilson cleared up the rumours, stating that the band are simply “laying low for a while”.
“The truth is, we just don’t know the future for certain and don’t want to get people’s hopes up or give any information that could end up being untrue,” stated the message, “We haven’t “broken up” per se, we’re just focusing on other things for the time being.”
The current whereabouts of the band’s members was also clarified. Marriages, university commitments and children are amongst the main, highly-practical reasons, though Wilson himself has revealed a new hardcore project named Chains, and runs Calaveras Records alongside that. Despite the last news from the SYG camp coming in the form of drummer Mikey Ambrose supposedly departing the group back in 2012, the statement included his whereabouts, which includes playing in New Found Glory guitarist Chad Gilbert’s side-project What’s Eating Gilbert, alongside SYG guitarist Audelio Flores Jr.
The most exciting news? Matt Wilson now also slings merch for Snoop Dogg. Read the full statement here, and stream ‘Cages’ - the debut track from Wilson’s new project Chains - below.
