Meanwhile, it seems the world is still refusing to let that Gotye song go.

Sia wins third straight songwriter APRA Music Award, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz dons wig to accept

Sia walked away with her third APRA Music Award for songwriter of the year last night - and roped Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz in to accept the prize on her behalf.

It’s the first time the same person has taken home the songwriter of the year award three years in succession - though former Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns, who performed on the night, jointly took home the prize in 1995, 1998 and 2000 as well as winning it on his own in 2003 and 2008.

Sia, who also won the peer-voted song of the year prize for ‘Chandelier’, repeated her trick of having a friend give her acceptance speech. A shadow-boxing Wentz wore the iconic platinum wig in a video message, claiming on Sia’s behalf: “I am the Michael Jordan of the APRAs. He won three. And then three more. Hopefully I’ll do that too.”

After accepting the award, Wentz quipped: “I feel more powerful with this wig on.”

Elsewhere 5 Seconds of Summer won breakthrough songwriter of the year, Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ took home international work of the year and Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ was awarded most played Australian work overseas - for (we kid you not - Ed) the third year straight.
