Sigrid shares first new music of 2023 with new track ‘The Hype’
Her soaring new track is set to be part of a new project for the star.
Ahead of a handful of festival headlining slots later this month, Norwegian pop star Sigrid has offered up first new music of 2023.
Her new track ‘The Hype’ marks her first new material since the release of her second album ‘How To Let Go’, which landed last summer, and doubles as her first time co-producing alongside her longtime collaborator Askjell and producer Nick Hahn.
“We’ve all been there, when you wonder if you’ve lived up to the expectations,” Sigrid has said of the track; a soaring pop offering which questions if it’s possible to live up to lofty expectations. “I thought about the term Hype, in love and at work, and the questions you ask yourself of did you really live up to the hype.
So I wrote a song about it! With my artist job, I’ve sometimes felt that I’ve tried to live up to myself in a way - but a version of myself that looks like me, but cooler, more confident and touring the world. I’ve probably brought that into my private life, and all those things is what Hype is about. We’ve wrapped it in ethereal melodies and bass, synth and drum heavy production, but I love how there’s so much strength in my vocals - there’s power in being vulnerable!”
Her new song lands ahead of her upcoming appearances at Norway’s Oya Festival, and UK events Big Feastival and Victorious Festival. Listen to ‘The Hype’ below and remind yourself of her upcoming live slots underneath the player.
