Simian Mobile Disco confirm new album ‘Whorl

Live recordings LP follows on from 2012’s ‘Unpatterns’. Watch a trailer.

Simian Mobile Disco’s next album has been recorded live in its entirety.

James Ford and Jas Shaw’s follow-up to 2012’s ‘Unpatterns’ is called ‘Whorl’ and it’s out 8th September via Anti.

The record was recorded in front of a crowd of 900 in California venue Pappy & Harriet’s. Comprised entirely of analog gear - no computers - the session that made it to tape is meant to be a “live recreation” of the studio process.

“The recordings we did in the studio while we were writing and rehearsing the new material for Whorl were simply “live” takes - the system we’re using has limited ability to save patterns in the sequencer, but nothing like the flexibility of a computer,” says Jas Shaw.

‘Whorl’’s lead single, ‘Tangents’, is out on 1st July and you can hear a preview of it via the record’s video trailer below.
