Gongs galore
Skepta, Laura Mvula and Kano get nods at the MOBO awards
Craig David’s also got his first nomination since winning best newcomer in 2000.
Laura Mvula and Kano are leading the nominations at this year’s MOBO awards, with four nominations each. They’re both up for best female and best male respectively.
The MOBOs - held to celebrate music of black origin - take place on 4th November in Glasgow.
Skepta - who recently won the Mercury Prize for ‘Konichiwa’ - has been nominated for three gongs; best male, best album and best grime act. Stormzy, Lady Leshurr, Giggs, Nao, James Blake, Izzy Bizu, Jorja Smith and M.I.A are also among the nominees.
The award for best international artist is set to be a fierce competition, with Rihanna, Frank Ocean, Drake, Beyoncé, Chance the Rapper, Justin Bieber, Major Lazer and Kaytranada among the nominees.
Meanwhile, Craig David has recieved his first MOBO nod in 16 years. He last won best newcomer at the awards in 2000.
