Slaves cover LCD Soundsystem’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing At My House’
Duo also air a new song during Maida Vale session for Radio One
With their debut album ‘Are you Satisfied?’ out in June, Slaves popped down to Maida Vale with Huw Stephens, sitting in for Annie Mac, for a Radio 1 session.
The three-track set saw current single ‘Feed The Mantaray’ get an airing before album cut ‘Live Like An Album’ was given its debut. Speaking to Huw, the band explain, “I used to see the same homeless guy sitting around Tunbridge Wells, day in, day out. It was the height of summer and I saw him laying in the town center, very drunk and he almost resembled a carcass rotting in the midday sun, so that kinda inspired this song.”
Slaves ended the session in unchartered territory, as their snarling cover of LCD Sound System’s ‘Daft Punk Is Playing In My House’ is a first for the band, who have never performed a cover before.
The duo are heading out on their first UK tour in May. Kicking off in Portsmouth on the 5th, Slaves take in two dates at London’s Scala before finishing things off in Sheffield on the 19th.
