SOFT PLAY team up with Kate Nash for new single ‘Slushy’
They’ve also unveiled plans for an expanded edition of their latest album ‘Heavy Jelly’, featuring six new tracks.

SOFT PLAY are back with the news that a deluxe version of their 2024 LP ‘HEAVY JELLY’ - aptly titled ‘HEAVIER JELLY’ - will be released on 18th April, and they’ve introduced it via a storming collab with Kate Nash.
New cut ‘Slushy’ is in fact the second time Kate’s teamed up with drummer and vocalist Isaac Holman (the first being when she lent vocals to a track for his Baby Dave solo project), and this one sees the pair verbally spar over a foundation of thrashing garage rock.
In addition to ‘Slushy’, ‘HEAVIER JELLY’ is also set to feature five more new songs, all of which are very much part of the original record’s world: ‘Heavy Jelly’, ‘Take Me To The Tip’ and ‘Chairman Of The Council’ were written around the same time, but ultimately didn’t make the cut because of their more experimental sonics; ‘Flip ‘em The Bird’ and ‘Green Lambourgini’, meanwhile, are quintessential SOFT PLAY.
In the words of guitarist Laurie Vincent: “These songs are the bastard children of ‘Heavy Jelly’, strange experimentations/delusions that didn’t fit the mould.”
