SOHN gets soulful on new track ‘Hard Liquor’

The latest single from ‘Rennen’ also has a dark new video.

SOHN is finally releasing his second album ‘Rennen’ next Friday, and after already sharing the title track and ‘Conrad’, he’s given us another sweet taste in the form of ‘Hard Liquor’.

Returning to the harder beats and synths that formed the foundation of ‘Conrad’, the new track also sees SOHN getting more soulful, with one of his loosest vocal performances to date.

There’s a good reason behind that slight change in direction, as according to SOHN himself, he wasn’t originally intending to bring out ‘Hard Liquor’ himself. Instead, he wanted to give the song to his friend Sam Dew. He said: “Originally I had imagined Sam singing it - he has this incredibly soulful voice - and that gave me a certain lyrical and melodic freedom that I never imagined coming out of my mouth. It ended up being a blueprint for the whole album and resulted in the entire record feeling very direct and free.” It certainly turned out alright in the end.

The track is also accompanied by a brooding new black and white video, shot in Belgrade and directed by Jovan Todorovic. Watch the clip below.
