Solange is plotting an outdoor art piece in Texas

Site-specific performance ‘Scales’ will respond to Donald Judd’s installation ‘15 Untitled Works in Concrete’.

Solange has announced a new outdoor art piece called ‘Scales,’ which she’ll be performing next to one of her favourite pieces of art in Marfa, Texas.

Donald Judd’s installation ‘15 Untitled Works in Concrete’ is on show at the Chianti Foundation, where Solange will be performing ‘Scales’ on October 8th. Her latest art piece comes after the artist previously performed ‘An Ode To’ - a show of re-interpreted versions of ‘A Seat At The Table’ songs - at New York’s Guggenheim art gallery.

“Donald Judd’s profound work has had tremendous impact on the way in which I see the world,” Solange wrote in a statement. “I have visited these works at the Chinati in Marfa various times, at landmark moments in my life and am completely and utterly honored to deliver my performance piece, Scales, alongside these phenomenal installations.”

Solange released her latest album ‘A Seat At The Table’ at the end of last year. She’s currently on tour in Europe, and played Dutch festival Lowlands over the weekend.
