SOPHIE releases new track ‘Hard’

‘The B-side to ‘Lemonade’ is more trappy, hefty-hitting silly putty than fizzy sherbet

Quickly making a name for himself as the one of the more divisive producers in music right now, it has only been a week since the enigmatic SOPHIE released the hyperactive, super-carbonated fizz-explosion that was ‘Lemonade’. He’s followed it up right away, though, with ‘Hard’. It certainly lives up to its name.

On SOPHIE’s sherbet register, ‘Hard’ ranks as a hearty, recoil-inducing popping candy, and it’s the most low-register, trap-influenced creation we’ve seen yet, bouncing densely along like big ball of squelching, glittery silly putty. There’s almost definitely some PC Music collaboration going on here too, and although it’s hard to be entirely sure, the vocals have an air of label signings Lipgloss Twins about them.

Out now via Numbers, ‘Hard’ is the B-side to SOPHIE’s previous track release, ‘Lemonade’, and it is now available on vinyl right here, too. You can listen below.
