St. Vincent makes road trip soundtrack mixtape on Beats 1
Annie Clark’s made a playlist for Adelaide and her grandmother.
St. Vincent has unveiled the second chapter of her “St. Vincent’s Mixtape Delivery Service” on Apple Music’s Beats 1.
Last week, Annie Clark put together a discovery mixtape for an 11-year-old with already superb music taste, building on the likes of Chvrches and Purity Ring.
The second instalment has Clark picking out songs for Adelaide, a M.I.T. graduate who’s gone on the road with her grandmother, who she describes as “chain-smoking” and “quietly raging”. It’s quite the story, and it led Clark to picking out songs to suit both people’s tastes. These include tracks from Metallica, Brian Eno, Dolly Parton and Gil Scott-Heron.
Listen to the instalment below in Spotify form, plus a tracklist.
01. America – Simon & Garfunkel
02. Forever Heavy – Black Moth Super Rainbow
03. The Revolution Will Not Be Televised – Gil Scott-Heron
04. Amarillo By Morning – George Strait
05. Wherever I May Roam – Metallica
06. Fancy – Reba McEntire
07. Coal Miner’s Daughter – Loretta Lynn
08. On Some Faraway Beach – Brian Eno
09. Don’t Let It Bring You Down – Neil Young
10. 9 to 5 – Dolly Parton
11. A Moment Isn’t Very Long – Willie Nelson
