St Vincent announces ‘MassEducation’, a stripped down reimagining of ‘MASSEDUCTION’

The record is out next week(!) and being previewed by a new version of ‘Savior’.

Upon the release of St Vincent’s ‘MASSEDUCTION’ LP last year, no-one could quite get the name right. They kept calling it ‘MASSEDUCATION’. Meta as ever, Annie Clark has now announced a new record of that exact name.

‘MassEducation’ features stripped down versions of every ‘MASSEDUCTION’ song (god, we’re getting a headache). Last week, we heard ‘Slow Slow Disco’, the third version to appear of album closer ‘Slow Disco’, and she’s now shared an alternate version of ‘Savior’.

The new album will come out next week(!) and has been explained by Annie in a handwritten letter.

“We neither rehearse nor spoke about how to approach any song, but rather, played two to three live takes, picked the best one, and trusted in the feeling of the moment,” she says.

“So here it is—two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City. Enjoy.”
