Stream Africa Express’s ‘Terry Riley’s In C Mali’ Tate Modern performance in full

Earlier this month, Africa Express announced plans to release a new LP in the form of an extensive, forty-minute-plus version of ‘Terry Riley’s In C’, re-dubbed ‘Terry Riley’s In C Mali’.

In advance of the release, a special performance at London’s Tate Modern took place to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the legendary piece of minimalism.

Led by conductor André de Ridder, the 2nd November performance can be streamed in full via an interactive video. Here, with ‘In C Mali’ playing as a backing, viewers have the option of walking through the Tate’s galleries, while journeying to Mali alongside the Africa Express.

The video has been uploaded using the same technology for Coldplay’s recent new video, where you could pick a path for an island-castaway version of Chris Martin to walk. The concept for this piece is more revelatory, and it’s streaming via The Space now.
