Phil Elverum’s new LP is available to listen to a week in advance.
Phil Elverum aka Mount Eerie will release his new album ‘Sauna’ on 3rd February via P.W. Elverum & Sun Records, which is his own label imprint. Ahead of the week’s scheduled release, the new album is available to stream over at NPR.org.
The album has been recorded in Washington state over a fifteen month period, with inspiration from “vikings and zen and real life”.
Speaking about the album, Elverum says: “All of the song titles are single words and some of the songs are very long. This is music meant to weigh heavy on you like a lot of cold water at night, and also the sword glimmering at the bottom of the lake at night.” ‘Sauna’ follows up two albums released in 2012, titled ‘Clear Moon’ and ‘Ocean Roar’, and includes the singles ‘Dragon’ and ‘This’.
