Neu pick Sun Silva deliver an understatedly epic introduction on ‘Blue Light’
The London quartet’s debut is a warm, Jungle-esque delight.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Sun Silva.
Despite already having amassed a reasonable live following in the capital (they’re set to headline The Lexington tomorrow night FYI), London quartet Sun Silva have been taking their time before committing anything to record.
Now, however, they’ve unveiled debut ‘Blue Light’ - a musing on the omnipresent glow of the screen - and you can see why the classically-trained foursome have decided to play the long game.
Full of sumptuous, nocturnal atmospherics and layered, intricate textures, the track is a technically complex beast masquerading as a chilled-out, Jungle-esque, understated banger. Replete with a brass section, multi-layered harmonies and a crashing crescendo, it shows Sun Silva as a band already full of ambition and with the songwriting chops to match.
Listen to ‘Blue Light’ below.
