’70s soul maestro Swamp Dogg announces new album with ‘I’ll Pretend’ ft Justin Vernon

The singer’s new album ‘Love, Loss And Auto-Tune’ is out in September.

’70s soul legend Swamp Dogg - previously known by his real name, Jerry Williams Jr. - is releasing new album ‘Love, Loss And Auto-Tune’ in September.

Suitably, then, he’s connected up with a master of all three things stated in the record’s title, and shared the album’s first single ‘I’ll Pretend’, featuring Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.

True to the album’s title, ‘I’ll Pretend’ is packed with heavily auto-tuned vocals shoved to the front of the mix, and backed by slow, drone-like synths and blues guitars that feel like they’re being played from the next room.

“Every time I listen to some new music that everybody thinks is the greatest thing since hot biscuits, it’s full of auto-tune,” he says of the album’s motives.

‘Love, Loss And Auto-Tune will come out on 7th September via Joyful Noise.
