T in the Park issue further apologies, MSP calls for review
Festival-goers were stranded for hours over the weekend.

MSP for mid Scotland and Fife, Liz Smith, is calling for a review of T in the Park after this weekend saw many festival-goers stranded for hours each evening at the event.
The festival had been forced to relocate this year, after having taken place since 1997 at Balado airfield, to the grounds of Strathallan Castle in Perthshire.
“It is very clear from comments on social and national media this morning that a large number of people who attended the event were very frustrated by what they encountered when they were trying to enter and leave the car parks and also by the lack of adequate policing and stewarding,” said Smith.
“This led to significant numbers of people walking along dangerous roads and disregarding the advice issued.
“T in the Park is an important event in Scotland’s festival calendar but there has to be a major review of what has happened this year.
“The public wants to know why there were so many communication issues between Perth and Kinross Council and DF Concerts and why there appeared to be such disregard for the knowledge of local people.”
The festival’s Facebook page is full of angry festival-goers (and parents), among apologies citing bad weather, unofficial campsites and people driving in the wrong direction.
Festival boss Geoff Ellis, meanwhile, told the BBC he was “really pleased with how it went.”
“It’s not been perfect,” he added, “and we’d never have expected it to be.”
Locals had warned organisers of the unsuitable nature of the roads surrounding Strathallan, and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights there were reports of cars being in queues for hours, and buses not arriving as timetabled. Additionally, many festival-goers reported being given little, or incorrect information by stewards.
An additional apology was posted this morning for campers leaving the site, citing “challenging ground conditions”.
