Tame Impala’s new album set to be “less rock and more electronic

Band’s keyboardist Jay Watson promises an “awesome” new LP.

Two years on from the release of ‘Lonerism’, Tame Impala keyboardist Jay Watson has given the first hint towards a follow-up’s direction by stating that new material will sound “less rock and more electronic.”

Speaking about band frontman Kevin Parker in an interview with Faster Louder, Watson said: “’s gonna be awesome, everything he does is awesome… I guess probably cause he knows someone like me’ll get drunk and then say stuff about it in interviews! Which is a very real possibility. It’s probably best I don’t say anything because I’ll get in more trouble than you will.”

Tame Impala’s ‘Lonerism’ world tour concluded with a performance at Latitude Festival’s Obelisk Arena. A third album is anticipated for late 2015 / early 2016. Kevin Parker recently guested on a new Mark Ronson track, ‘Uptown Funk’, with three collaborations set to arrive on next year’s ‘Uptown Special’.

Jay Watson is also a member of Pond, who will release their sixth album ‘Man It Feels Like Space Again’ in 2015.
